As in the previous year, the Latin American Journal of Inclusive Education presents a miscellaneous issue that brings together a diverse range of studies concerning the development of education without exclusion. This particular issue illustrates the thematic and geographical breadth of the manuscripts received: it includes studies on school and university education conducted in different contexts and addressing issues related to gender, interculturality, special educational needs, and disability. The authors come from the southernmost regions of the world, as well as from Latin American and European universities.
Taken together, these studies reflect the continued relevance and growth of research in the field of inclusive education. When considered in light of the articles published by RLEI over nearly twenty years, they also allow us to observe the evolution of perspectives on inclusion in education. We can identify a shift from an understanding focused on integrating children and young people with disabilities towards a perspective that regards inclusion as a principle that cuts across the entire educational and social system.
