About the possibility of an inclusive education under the current chilean economic and social development model

Abstract

The article analyzes the relationship between formal education and economic and social development models. From there the characteristics of the Chilean education system, understood as a result of the installation of a neoliberal capitalist model and ideology are detailed. Its consequences are discussed in the financing, quality conception, evaluation mechanisms, notion of diversity and the effect on educational actors to contrast with the principles of inclusive education, widely appointed from the academic and political sphere. The discussion aims to reflect on the applicability of inclusive education in the current national context.

Bruno Lerena Romero, Universidad de Chile

Psicólogo graduado de la Universidad de Chile, con experiencia en diseño, implementación y evaluación de intervenciones psicoeducativas en contextos comunitarios y educacionales. Los últimos 6 años se ha desempeñado como coordinador técnico y financiero del Programa Habilidades para la Vida de la Junta de Auxilio Escolar y Becas JUNAEB de la Municipalidad de San Antonio, con una cobertura de 35 establecimientos educacionales.

Jimmy Trejos Guerra, Universidad de Chile

Psicólogo titulado de la Universidad de Chile, se ha desempeñado en el ámbito clínico del sistema de salud pública y escolar. Durante los últimos 5 años se ha desempeñado en programas de rehabilitación integral en el instituto Teletón Santiago, donde colabora en el en el Programa de Acciones en la Comunidad y el Programa de Inclusión Educativa.
